Servicing: GQ Patrol Filters
Before I started to travel, I serviced the GQ every 6 months. Since I started to travel, my service intervals have changed to 6 weeks and I travel about 50,000 kilometres a year.
I own a Nissan 1990 GQ Patrol with a TD42 (Non Turbo) diesel engine and these are the filters that I use. I hope that this is page is useful for other GQ Nissan Patrol owners out there.
Fleetguard Filters for the GQ Patrol
As I’ve traveled around Australia, I’ve found that Fleetguard filters are the go. To start with, they’re stocked everywhere. A lot of farm machinery runs on Cummins engines so Fleetguard is big out here.
I’ve had no issues with Fleetguard filters and many people out here will recommend them.

Ryco Filters for the GQ Patrol
In the city, I used to rely a lot on Ryco filters. They were the easiest filters to find with all the major auto stores stocking them. (Supercheap Auto / Repco)
They were reasonably priced, worked well and I had no complaints.

Nissan Genuine Filters for the GQ Patrol
For some reason, Nissan Genuine filters for the GQ were often cheaper than the aftermarket ones. No idea why.
